position. Responsible for the leadership and management of Surgical
Services, which includes Operating Rooms, Pre and Post-Operative,
Sterile Processing, Perioperative Evaluation Clinic (PEC), and
Endoscopy. The director translates the objectives, plans, policies
and procedures of Surgical Services into effective actions to
manage human resources and material resources for cost effective
and high quality patient care. Responsible for the administrative,
operational, financial and direction of recruitment and retention.
Partners with departmental leadership to support the Surgical
Services projects, as well as the development of staff & programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Current unencumbered licensure with the WV Board of Registered
Professional Nurses, or appropriate state board where services will
be provided, as a registered professional nurse OR Current
multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact
(eNLC).
2. Basic Life Support (BLS)
EXPERIENCE:
1. Five (5) years nursing experience with at least two (2) years in
a management position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) OR Masters of
Science in Nursing (MSN).
2. Specialty nursing certification.
3. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric
Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
If hire on or after 2/1/2024:

evaluates the delivery of patient care by empowering staff,
coordinating activities between operating departments and by

2. Collaborates with medical staff, ancillary/support directors and
other personnel in resolving issues, promoting, and planning
optimal patient care.
3. Selects, hires, manages, and evaluates the performance and
effectiveness of employees and facilitate the professional
development of all staff to ensure clinical practice
competence.
4. Responsible for the operations and financial management of
dedicated clinical units. Creates a capital budget and utilizes
resources to execute the plan.
5. Assists in developing and managing the capital and operating
budgets for the Surgical Services departments and operating room
service lines and its defined interests, while monitoring budgetary
compliance.
6. Establishes annual and long-term Surgical Services quality,
service, and financial goals.
7. Maintains collaborative working relations with key physicians
and hospital leaders throughout the hospitals and health
system.
8. Oversees the Quality and Performance Improvement functions
within the Surgical Services department.
9. Collaborates with medical staff, ancillary/support directors and
other personnel in resolving issues and promoting and planning
optimal patient care.
10. Coaches and counsels to correct identified performance
deficiencies, develops plans to establish goals
11. Represents Surgical Services within the hospitals, health
system, and community.
12. Ensures the appropriate delegation of departmental activities.
Supervises delegated activities to assure effective completion.
13. Oversees construction and compliance to Surgical Services
protocols and procedures.
14. Participates in professional activities and organizations.
15. Maintains patient acuity system to provide a foundation for the
staffing budget.
16. Participation in community projects for hospital and community
well-being expected. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands
